Can students sponsor their parents visit

Hi All,
My husband and I are on F1 visa and both of us have assisstantships. I would like to know if it is risky to say that we are going to sponsor my mother-in-laws trip. We have around 8000$ in the bank. Or is it a wiser to say that she is going to sponsor her trip. We are not considering this option only because we feel that we cannot establish enough financial assests back home in india.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

As long as you can show that enough financial resources to take care of her expenses, you can sponsor. It does not matter that you are on student visa.

She can sponsor herself if she is able to.
