Visa preponement or scheduling at another location?

I have an appointment for visa interview in Mumbai in late August and really need to get an earlier date due.

Does the board have any experiences successfully preponing? What about applying to an alternate venue like New Delhi? I am unclear on the rules...the VFS site says that you can apply for another venue as long as you have not been rejected before. But I don't get any option to select another location, when scheduling / preponing my visa interview date.
