  • Mother's visa rejected twice.

My mother's visa was rejected twice. Frist time rejection was in 2002 and we applied again on May 2007. She is a widower and does not work. Looks like that was the "negative" aspect. Iam her only daugter and I have 2 brothers who are in India. One of them is unmarried. She owns the home in India and now works as a part time insurance field agent and also is renting out a property. But the officer did not look at any of the documents and rejected right away!!!. What are the chances of a positive outcome if we apply again. I have heard that We can try again after a month's time of the interview. I would like to bring her in US this year. My husband is sponsoring her.

Will a letter from the Senator would help?

    Please share your thoughts?

    Rekha.

It's obvious from your description the VO thought your mother has no strong ties to India - even if you still have a brother there, he's unmarried - which means no grandsons for your mother to miss if she decided to stay in the US. And she's a widower, doesn't work (part time doesn't count). Couldn't be worst.

A letter from anyone doesn't help - and might even probably hurt your case. VOs hate to have papers shoved on their faces, and they have the final saying on all visa applications.

I would suggest for you and your mother to come up with a list of reasons why she would return to India. Once you have said list, you should be in a better shape to apply again.

In all honesty, and based on your description of the situation, I don't see your mother returning to India. And if I don't see it, the VO for sure doesn't see it either.
