  • Do Visitors need to carry passport/Visa/I-94 at all times?

    Hi,
My mother is visiting me tommorrow. I was wondering if she needs to carry her passport and I-94 card at all times while she is in the US and risk loosing it somewhere. Or is it ok to carry photo copy's instead?

    Thanks in advance..

Yeah - if so you want.

While it is true that passport + I94 is the only way to demonstrate legal presence in the US, rarely, if ever, people get asked for them - unless there's a need.

Which means: if your mother stays with you, or goes shopping, or to the beach, or whichever activities would be normal, slim chance of her ever need to present such evidence.

Just keep her away from bar brawls, dubious joints and criminal activities

      Ok Not to Carry

      Hi,
Its ok not to carry your documents at all times, but be sure to carry them with you if you plan to travel interstate, alongwith your medical insurance papers. They will come in handy. Have a great holiday.
