Advice on using the HDFC recipt number after name change.

Hi,
My Father`s passport had a surname discrepancy.He went to passport office for name change, but they cancelled his original passport and are in the process of issue of new passport.We paid the HDFC for visa appointment with his original passport and we noticed the surname discrepancyonly during online appointment.
Now the Passport office cancelled his original passport due to name chnage.My question is "Could he able to use the existing receipt number of HDFC that he got with his original passport?"...or do we have to forget about the money and pay again the HDFC the visa fee with the new passport?.Please clarify.

Hi
Once your father gets new passport, you can call VFS and notify about your new passport and the also about the problem with old pasport. They will reactivate your HDFC Recipt with the new passport number and you can enter the updated details.

The reactivation will take atleast 2 working days.

Thanks fr the reply.DO you have the VFS Phone number?.I am having a doubt..Is VFS is responsible for collecting all these fee via HDFC?.
