returning to India...

Hi, My mother came to US on a visitor Visa and she would be completing 6 months very soon. Unfortunately, she could not able to return to India by the I-94 due date because of some personal reasons. I would like to know if I can apply for the extension of her stay here ? Secondly, would this impact her next visit to US since she stayed more than 6 months ? She has a Visa stamped on her passport for 10 years.

Caution

Hi. Normally, it would be better for her to leave a little before her I-94 permit expires, especially if this is her first visit. In many cases, there is no extension given for first time visitors.

It would be a good idea not to apply for extension unless its really needed, for which, you would have to supply credible claims to support the reason for extension.

Don't worry about the 10 year visa, it will not be affected.
