  • Who should sponser

    My husband and I both work and both have green card.

    I am self employed for last 8 months and do not get W2 or schedule 1099, and the tax I filed last year had only 2 months of income, so not much.. before that I was studying.

    On the other hand my husband has stable job with multinational company where he gets W2 and Salary for last 8 years.

    We are inviting my parents. Who should be the sponser my husband or me ?

    thanks

    nee

    only a united states citizen can sponsor a parent, brother sister e.tc.
    I green card holders are limited to whom they can sponsor. They can sponsor a spouse but Not parents.

    I would file for Naturalization that is if you have the required time as Green card holders. I.e 5 yrs and then you have all the world to sponsor. ha ha

    # If you are a US Citizen, you may petition for following relatives, as long as you can prove the relationships:

    * Husband or wife or unmarried child under 21 years old;
    * Parent, if you are at least 21 years old;
    * Unmarried son or daughter over 21 years old;
    * Married son or daughter of any age;
    * Brother or sister, if you are at least 21 years old.

    # If you are a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), you may petition for following relatives, as long as you can prove the relationships:

    * Husband or wife; or
    * Unmarried child under 21 years of age;
    * Unmarried son or daughter over 21 years of age.

    Lawful permanent residents may not sponsor their parents, married sons/daughters or brothers/sisters to live permanently in the U.S.

    Good luck!

      oh well to answer the question you asked it is always better that the nearest relative 'sponsor'. But there are two things if your parents can show enough income/assets of their own they can sponsor themselves. always a better option

      Both of you can provide I-13 or one of you can.
