Change of status

I'm currently working in the USA, Aspen, Colorado, under an H2B visa. My visa ends in the middle April, but i have a small problem. Once i've finished working in April I'd like to do a road trip down to Mexico.

There are a few of us some on South African Passports and others on Italian Passports...

So my question is, is there a way to extend the visa so i can stay in the states for longer or can i change the visa to a tourist visa?

All we want to do is travel so a holiday visa will be perfect, if it's possible
