How much time should I wait to re-apply for B2 - Tourist visa?

Hi All,

My mother had gone for an interview for B2 - Tourist visa. Unfortunately for her, my colleague's in-laws were in same window queue just ahead of her. They got the visa but my mother was asked whether she knew them. She had met them the same day morning and barely knew them. That is what she told the interviewer. My colleague and I stay in the same community and hence the address was almost same except for the apartment number. Somehow the interviewer was not convinced and the visa was rejected with reject code 214.

This is very peculiar situation and there is very little probability that it will happen again. I think we can re-apply after 3 business days from date of rejection. But I was advised by many not to apply immediately.

Can somebody advise as to how much time should I wait before re-application? Is it worth applying immediately now? Or should I wait for a month or so before I make an application?

Since the rejection code was 214, I personally do not think the rejection was in anyway related to if you knew the person in the same window or whatever. This code means they assumed you to be potential immigrant and you have to somehow overcome this assumption and convince the VO that you'll come back to your gome country. The laws suggest that you re-apply only after there has been a significant change in your situation which strengthens your ties to your country which will make it mandatory for you to return back. Rest is your call.
