I-94 issue..plz help..

I'm currently stayin in US on my 10yr B1/B2 visa. My I-94 is getting over by oct. But going bac to homeland would prove expensive and some work is still pending. Hence if i go to canada submitting my I-94 and then re-entering US after few days, is it wise? If i travel by airfrom canada to US, would i be given a new I-94? kindly suggest.. I'd appreciate ur response.

B1/B2 is a temperory stay visa, if you need extended stay, get a L1 or H1B as the case maybe.
