Parents visiting--need help(Retired or Farmer)

Hello all,

My parents are visiting for VISA at chennai consulate on this month end.
My father is a retired VAO and mother is a housewife.we are from small vilage and has XX acres of land and he's looking into that now.

i want to tell that my father is FARMER instead of retired.

Is it a good idea?please suggest.i don't want VO to get a feeling that my father is retired . are there any disadvantage if i tell that my father is a farmer instead of retired employee.
Which one will have a better advantage.

FARMER is better but he must be able to answer all questions and present documents that will support his stated FARMER occupation;
*How much land do you have? Can you show me the land papers?
*How long have you been in this occupation?
*How much do you earn ? Must show tax papers showing agriculture income.
And the income must be very good 10 lacs + per year to get the visa.
