  • InLaws attempting second time

Visa was rejected first time as all the kids are in US.

But my inlaws have to go back as they need to take of our grand mother. And also they have properties and my FIL is retired and getting pension, house rents and also have agriculture lands. Will it be helpful to add all these points in cover letter.

Can anybody share your sample cover letter. My email id [email protected]

    Thanks in advance.

Change in situation will bring results rather than a cover letter.

Let mom apply alone and travel alone. that way she will have her husband in India as a strong tie. Also , she should show her husband in some working capacity (managind agriculture land) rather than just retired. Be smart and let them prepare
a letter from CA showing all income and assets rather than just showing pension. pepare MIL for the interview, let her open the interview rather than she being on the defensive. presentation is the key. She should tell the officer they have this income per year from so much agri land worth this much ( at this point show CA's assessment and any tax returns) and she does not need to stay in us. this strategy has worked many times with parents who have all children in US.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Last time they had all the documents and affidavit from CA stating income from agriculture land, pension. rent etc. And also property documents.

But VO did even bother to look at any of the documentation. That was the reason why I was wondering i a good cover letter will help?

That is true. They base their decisions more on the answers than docs.
But still, let her carry the docs again . She can carry the cover letter if she wishes but if she opens the interview with a strong argument ( We were denied last time because I have all children in US but we have so much agri land, my husband is managing and so much income and we love Indian culture, we donot want to leave India, my husband does not even want to go for a visit now).

Maybe it will work . visitor visa is a lot of hit and trial.

Getting a visa is like winning a lottery. No body knows what really works. You do your best and hope that your folks would get the visa.

From my experience, my parents got rejected the first time as a potential immigrant though the consular told he was rejecting 'cause they did not have my W-2's.(Ideally the rejection should be based on insufficient documentation).

Next time, I wrote a letter to consulate clearly mentioning why they were rejected the first time and what was different this time. But honestly, I don't know if that made any difference or not, but they got their visas.
