  • J-1 visa into B-2? HELP ME !!!

    Hi,
I am currently in the US as a participant in a work and travel program (student exchange program). I have a J-1 visa that expires on Sep, 14 and I want to extend my stay in the US. It is my second year in the US , but this time I want to stay longer. Please give me an advice, because I am desperate. I don't know what to do.

I already contacted 2 different lawyers and they adviced me to apply for a student visa F-1, but I can't find a school that could except my application, they are so expensive and I can't prove that I have enough funds to pay for my education. I live in San Dimas, CA but I want to move to LA and stay there, so I am trying to find a school there.

I was wondering if I could apply for a tourist visa, but I only have one relative in the US who could be my sponsor. He lives in Chicago with his family and he is my uncle. I am also only 21 years old and I don't have so strong ties back in my country, except for my parents and my apartment.

I work in Raging Waters (water park in California) and my contract expires on Sep, 5 , but I also have a second job. I heard something about employment letter, that I could use to extend my visa. Probably they could give me such a letter from my second job, but I have no idea what to do.

    PlEASE HELP ME !!!

    Thank you !

    H1B or H2B

In this situation what you could do is to seek help from your other job employer to sponser you for your visa of H-1B or H-2B, as per the situation you are in. Like that you can apply for Change of status while staying at U.S. If your petition is approved you can stay more number of years legally without any hazards or without being deported.
