  • Birth certificate needed for Canadian citizen?

I was reading about the documents required to sponsor parents... it said we need to send Original birth certificate if you are Indian citizen. What if we are Canadian citizen? do we still have to attach birth certificate?

    thanks in advance.

Due to high passport fraud in India , officers sometimes ask for bc to make sure, the parent applicants are actually
the parents of the child host sponsoring. It is not mandatory but it
really helps if the officer asks for it. Even if you are a canadian citizen with birth in India and parents in India , send the bc
, if it shows your parents' names.

        Options

Some of the options if you're unable to find your original BC.

If you've studied in India, then you may have your school/college leaving certificates, they have your DOB which can be used.

Notarize your copy of the BC that you may have as "Signed by ...... in front of me..."

        Good luck.
