  • One parent not physically present, will consulate grant visa to both parents ?

    Hello,

I would like to invite my parents in US on visitor visa.

However my mother is not in a position to attend the visa interview due to her physical disabilities.
so, my question is, can my father take my mother's documents alongwith his documents to get visa for both of them ?

Basically, the question is if one parent is not physically present but all the relevant documents are present for both parents, under what circumstances will US consulate grant the visa to both the parents ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Nope.

Nope. Not possible. If your mother is physically capable of travelling several thousand miles from your home country to the US, then she is required to be present at the consulate.

They won't allow it, it's their rule.

    Take care.

      Need help

      Hello,

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I am planning to invite my father to visit US on visitor visa ; my mother is suffering from clinical depression and she is under medications right now.

What I was thinking was, When my father goes to get his visa, can we try to get my mother's visa also (by furnishing doctor's statements explaining her absence)

My question is, If my father can present documents given by doctor stating the reason why my mother could not attend the visa interview, will they consider that ?

      Thanks,

        No, it will not work.
Your mother needs to attend the interview in person.
If she is under medication please wait for her to feel better before she applies for a visa since stopping medication even temporarily can be dangerous.
