  • Urgent info wanted.

Hi,I urgently need your valuable suggestion on the following:

I am an Indian citizen, and have come to US very recently (23 June) on business trip from my company in India. My visa type is B1/B2 for 10 yrs multiple entries.
My initial requirement of stay was for 6 months, but in the I-94, I got the stay permit till 21st September (for 3 months). Now, I can not apply for the visa extension as my company's policy doesn't allow me to do that.
In this situation, I was told by a friend that I can only go to another nearest country and again come back to US within 1-2 days to get another 3 months extension of stay in the US.
Please let me know if it's possible. The state I am staying in US, is pretty close to Mexico, some 50 miles drive. Please let me know if it is possible for me to go to Mexico, stay there for a night or two and come back to US.

No, you can't go to Mexico and come back to get an extension.

You have to go out of North America (such as UK, Germany etc.) and come back to get new I-94.

If you are really in the US for work and that work really requires you to be here for 6 months but you only have a 3 month visa and if your company's policy does not allow for extension then that is your company's problem and they have to understand why you came back without completing your work.

Go back to India and show your company authorities your 3 month visa stamp. Why should you pay out of your own pocket to get an extension?

But I think you are not providing us with all the facts. If you've got a 3 month visa stamp it is because you have made frequent visits to the US on a visitor visa.
