Under what status are you in the US? for as long as your are not an US Citizen, I do not see any problem in your mom getting a visitor visa to see you.

However I advice you to not lie to the Consular Officer. Do not volunteer any information not asked, but if asked, do not lie.

          Death certificate

Bring it, just in case they ask for it, but do not volunteer it.

There is nothing wrong with being a widow, yes... it will be harder to prove ties to your home country, but you are better not lying about it.

              Hi,
Whether you volunteer or not, you need to fill the visa application form and you need to give information on the applicant's marital status (Q.No. 17 in DS 156),
you have to select widowed for your mother.
