  • Invitation from an American Family but self sponsor

    Hi
My mother was rejected B2 visa once where she was a self sponsor and I had invited her for my graduation. The reason she was rejected: she said she wanted to be in US for 6 months which made the Visa interviewer (female) mad and she did not even look at the documents.
Now she is going to try again.
This time one of my close american family friend is going to invite her by writing a letter however my mum will be self sponsorer...do you think this is going to work?
I and my sister are on F1 and in US while my dad is going to be in India.
    Thank you for your help.

Your mom should have been better prepared for that visa interview, as they are brief and if you get on the interviewer's bad side, you are toast.

You can tell her to look at this, so she can have a better chance: http://immihelp.comhttps://www.immih...tor/index.html

It ultimately depends on your mom having a "definite" plan to visit the US. (not just "want to spend 6 months there"). I do not see any risk because you and your sister are non-immigrant students, but she still has to prove and overcome 214(b) on her own.
