Invitation Letter from US

as for applying for US visitor visa we need invitation letter that somebody stays in US and we will be staying with them.

now here at the time of applying for visa, if i don't submit the invitation letter just i will tell the name and address of my friend with mentioning in visa application form as well.

then will it be acceptable or not ....??

please suggest me.

If you chose to have a letter of invitation, then you need to provide it at that time. Otherwise, you are not proving anything... I could say to a VO "I am going to visit my friend George at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
