6 Month B2 Visitor Visa

All of the official information says a "Standard time B2 Visa is 6 months". But I have a friend that was in China for 14 yrs. that says that's up to the Consular Official, and that 6 months is an exception to that rule, and that the Consulor official will usaully give less time.

My friend in Beijing wants a 6 month B2 Visa, what do you recommend?

There is no guarantee. Just apply. Most people get 6 months at least.
