  • I'm so confused, Pls! Pls! Help Mee!!!

Here's My background. I am 34 years old, married but separated even before my son was born. My son is 12 years old. I have a good Job & salary. Here are my questions:

    1. My passport is Single, i never used my married name ever and all my documents are single. Because we separated 1 week after my wedding. We havent finalized the dissolution of our marriage yet. Will i have a problem? Also, what will i put in the application married or separated?

    2. I don't have brother, sister, mom or father in the US. But my father's cousin leaves there. Should i declare that too? in the ds form 157?

    3. I only have $3000 in the bank, would that suffice? Though i will share expenses with a friend who is coming with me.

    4. What are my chances on getting a tourist Visa. I'll be there for 15-20 days only.

    Please Help Me!

Refer to: http://immihelp.comhttps://www.immih.../overview.html for more information.

    As far as your questions:

1.- There is no "separated" civil status. You are either: single, married, divorced or widow. If you have not divorced (and why haven't you?!) then put married.

2.- Use your best judgement, I believe listing only Immediate Relatives would be the best.

3.- $3,000 for what? for 15-20 days in the US? that will be more than sufficient.

4.- That is at the discretion of the US Consular Officer. And how well you can convince him/her.

Hi, there is a portion there that you have to click, married, single (never married), divorced, widow & separated.

There's no divorce in the philippines, only annullment.

Then put separated and expect questions about it.

Legally seperated is a legal term.

Yes, but there is also a "separated" where the parties just distanced themselves and never talked/saw each other anymore... yet they are still "legally joined" in marriage or common law marriage.

The OP did not specify if he was "legally" separated or not.
