My parents (Indian Citizen) are planning to visit US and Canada from India in December 2007 (Dec 5 '07). Their passport expires May 20, 2008.
Their visitor visa for Canada expires in May 20, 2008
Their visitor visa for US that expires in Nov 10, 2009.
As passports have to be valid for 6 months from date of travel from India to US/Canada they have to renew their passport before coming to US (it falls short by 20 days).
With their new passport they can enter US if they produce the old passport with the valid US visa as US visa does not expire with the passport if visa not cancelled and new passport if from same country.
But what about Canadian Visa? Does it expire with the passport or can they still use the visa in their old passport to enter Canada, just as for US. Note that expiry of their passport and the Candian visitor Visa is the same.
Will they be able to enter US/Canada with a passport that falls short of 6 months by 20 days?
Appreciate your help.
