  • Visitor Visa B-2 - Rejected

    Hi,

I have been reading posts from various people, some who have been successful in obtaining visitor visas for their parents and some not successful.

I read a post from Sumit, Boston, USA dated April 12th 2007 and his suitation is similar to ours.

We are one of the rejected cases:
    Reason:
My husband is the only child and the understanding is that his parent will not return back to India

His mother was interviewed this past week and her visa was rejeceted.

I have been reading and seen that someone suggested an Affidavit. It would be really helpful if someone has faced a similar situation and has been successful in obtaining the B-2 visa is the second attempt or any suggestions are welcome at this point.

    Thanks,
    Amy

    Hi Amy,
It is not true that your M.I.Law visa application got rejected just because her only son is in USA and she is a migrant canditate. If that is the case, we would not have got the visitor visa B2 as my only son is living in USA. In fact, the VO asked my wife " How many children you have mam?" She immediately said that he is the only child living in USA. Still, we both got 10 year M Visa.
You read thoroughly the experiences of others in this forum and conduct some mock interviews. If some properties are there in India, then let her carry the details. If she has enough bank balance, PPF, Post Office KVPs etc, then let her carry all. She may give an affidavit stating that she will come back after her visit to USA. Please do not apply for the interview immediately. Wait for 2 or 3 months and then apply.
This is not a legal advice.

u don't need to wait for 6 months. even my mom visa got rejected for the 1st time and reapplied again within a mon and she got it 2nd time. so it basically depends on time and luck. same questions were asked both the times and they didn't even look for the documents both the times.

Thank you very much to both of you for your suggestions.

We are planning to re-apply, the visa dates are not until 2 months, so it spaces it out.

At this time was have asked my MIL to show all the property papers, bank balance, fd's etc. We will get an Affidavit prepared for her, so its all ready at the time. Its true they might not even check the papers, but we want to have it incase they ask her to prove she has assests etc.

We will be doing mock interviewes with her to prepare her as well. Guess she was abit nervous at the first interview

I also got in touch with Sumit, the person who was in a similar situation like us. His parents were successful the second time. He went out of his way to tell me what he did the second time.

        Thank you again,

I will let you'll know if she gets thru.

        Have a wonderful day!
        A
