requirement of birth certificates/Passport copies of children in US & self support

We ( I & my wife) are applying for visitor visa.We have our two children one on H1 and other on F1 visa and my elder brother is US citizen since last 15 yrs.We will be showing enough financial fund for ourself and no sponsership.Reason of only tourism.
In that case also do we need to carry passport copies of our children and my brother and do we need to carry their birth certificates.
Does self sponsership affect chances of getting visa.

I do not think you need these.

Self sponsoring, if you show strong ties to your home country would improve your chances of getting a visa.
