Help reg. visitor visa

Hi,

I have applied for an extension as my H1-B visa expired and got the receipt notice. But my parents are going to the US consulate for a visitor's visa in couple of days. I sent the receipt notice and employer letter as supporting document.

Would my visa expiration and impending approval create any problem? Or, do I need to stop them from applying for the visa until I get my approval?
