A user named 'twilighttraveler' posted a question whether non-applying family members are allowed in consulate for US visa appointment.
The answer is no. Only the applicants can enter the consulate building. If any of the applicants have difficulty communicating in English, they can opt for a translator. Translators are available in several languages at consulates in India. e.g.
Mumbai - Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi etc.
Chennai - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam etc.
Delhi - Hindi, Punjabi etc.
Kolkata - Hindi, Bengali etc.
