B1 in Lieu of H1! Urgent!

Hi Guys, Please help me out of this confusion! Am in the US on a B1 right now but my company wants me to visit the US again for a span of 6 months. So they are planning for a "B1 in Lieu of H1" for me. Am I eligible to apply despite having a valid B1?? Secondly, I wish to bring my wife with me when I come back next. When I apply for her B2 Visa, what document should I produce? since I cant have a salary here, can a letter from the company that all mine and my wifes expenses will be taken care sufficient for the purpose? pleas help me and I will be indebted to you for life...Its really urgent...
