Visa status expired

My husband(h1 status) is planning to sponser my parents(his in-laws).He had got a receipt for the H1 extension.But did not get the papers.

The visa stamping has also been expired on the passport.As we need to send the passport zerox,i feel whether they have a problem for the visitors visa stamping.

Can anyone tell me whether we need that H1 paper and also the visa stamping on our passport?
