My mother has sent in her original I-94 to USCIS in her application for extension of her B-2 visa. We are now thinking of flying to Las Vegas for holiday this Dec. Will she get into trouble for not having the original I-94? We have a photocopy of it though.

I94 needed for domestic travel?

No problem
A visitor does need to have the original visa, passport and I94 while traveling domestic, but if you have your copies of the documents sent to USCIS and the original visa with the passport, you're okay.
It's very rare that they might ask to see the visa or I94. They only need to see a proper photo ID.
I'd also suggest you look into getting your family an add-on (authorized user) Citi Bank credit card with a photo. This works like a photo id too.
Good luck.

Or, if allowed in your state, best thing do is to go to local DMV and get a photo ID. It is different from driver's license.Immihelp Support

Photo credit card works great. Passport is best.
Passport is the best photo (& everything) ID.
Photo credit card works great otherwise and there's no restriction too. Plus the parents can use the credit card in their home country to purchase stuff for which the US employed kids can pay the bills too!!!
