Help to get VISA in Mumbai Consulate

I would like to know the process for sending the document to Mumbai
Consulate. I am planning to bring my mother in USA on tourist Visa and
need to know the process to send the document to Mumbai Consulate. I have few questions on that, please help me to get the answer for below
questions.

1) Do I need to send the documents to consulate directly from USA or
my mother post them from India.

2) My Motherʼs age is 63+ years so is it compulsory for her to go to
Mumbai Consulate or they will send the VISA to home if I send all
documents to them.
3) Does it require to send the original or copy of Passport and other
documents to Mumbai consulate.
