Regarding visitor

My wife is expecting. My mother-in-law is planning to come to US for the delivery.
I read on immihelp.com that my spouse's birth certificate is required as part of the documents to be sent.

But we have not brought it when we came to US. What is the alternative ?
My wife's passport is under her maiden name and has her parents names on it. Will that help.

Please let me know as early as possible so that we can decide to stay or go bac to India

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated
