How to apply for B2 when I am on Canada work permit?

Hi,

I am going to Toronto on a work permit visa. From there, I would like to visit US, because my brothers and friends are there. I would like to apply for B2 for this purpose. Would you recommend applying and going for personal appearance from India itself or doing it in Toronto? I will be leaving India to Toronto in a month. Please let me know if you need further details.

Can you also let me know what is the procedure for applying and what are the documents I will need?
