Fathers name misspelled in mothers passport

Hello -

My fathers first name is my mothers last name. In my mothers passport, her last name is mispelled in the last letter of the name,

My fathers name: SubramaniaN

My mothers last name in her passport : SubramaniaM

Instead of "N" as the last letter, it is printed as "M". I am planning to get their tourist visa appointment sometime next month. Is this a problem ?
Does my mom has to fix this typo in her passport before they go for the interview. ? Your reply is greatly appreciated.
