Self Sponsorship Questions

My brother-in-law from India wants to visit me. He has enough means to sponsor himself and his family. I am naturalized US citizen. Do I need to send any documents for him except an inviation letter. Will the invitation via email do?
I apologize if this question has been answered before.

it is best if you send the letter be mail. signed and all.

it is always best to sponsor oneself.
