Hello Sir/ Madam,

I live in London and need to get some information from your end. At the time of making my passport which was way back in 1998, I have given my mothers name as the name she was called after marriage. So on my passport my mothers name is **** ***. But when she applied for her passport in 2005 , all her documents were having the name before her marriage , which is **** *** **** **.

I need to bring my mother on Visit Visa, but the name on my passport is different from her passport. I cant change her name on her passport to **** * as all her documents have the same now.

I need your advise whether I can change her name on my passport. What are the rules for that and what all documents are required.

Kindly guide me for the same.

Just ask her to carry the proof of name change after marriage. If she doesn't have, ask her to prepare the affidavit indicating both names are same.

And make sure that she mentions the other name in 'Other names used' column.
