when to book return tickets

Hi,
I am confused with the date when i should book tickets for people who come to US on a 6mth visitor visa. So if they are here by April 15, in the event that they are granted 6 mth stay..what when would the I-94 expire? Is it Oct 15?

Calculate 180 days from the date of entry at POE if permitted to stay for 180 days by the IO. The date is stamped in I94 by the IO at the POE and you are allowed to stay till that date. But plan 1 week early for booking return ticket for any unforeseen issues.
