  • Steps for Visitor Visa for In-Laws

    Hello,

I have been following the guidelines for getting visitor visa for my In-Laws on your website. I have completed all my (sponsers) requirements and now want to shoot a detailed step by step email to my in-laws of what they need to do in order to get a visa. Can someone please take a look at it and let me know if I am on the right track or if I have missed anything? Also, one question I have is when paying the fees at HDFC bank, do they pay seperately for my Father in Law and Mother in Law or together? I figured this step by step could also help out someone in my situation in future. Here is my email to them:

    1. I will send all the Sponser documents from me to my In-Law's.
    2. Get updated passports for both and make two copies of both passports,
    all pages.
    3. Make sure to have copies & orignals of any relevent documents such as
Birth Certificates (Translated in English) & Marriage Certificates, Property
proof, residency, Job proof, leave proof from employer, family
photographs, marriage photographs, bank accounts, income tax returns
    etc.
    4. Passport size photos of both In-Laws, atleast 2 photos individually
    5. Fill this form out and print, one for each In-Law:

-Look at this website for help on filling out this form:

-Make sure to take a look at the sample form for help:

-Make sure to take a look at the sample form for help:

    7. Go to HDFC bank location and pay the visa fees for both In-Law's. Carry
atleast one photocopy of the first page of the Abbu & Ammi passport.
Please refer to https://www.immihelp.com/usa-visa-fees/ for detail
instructions on the fees and amounts.
    8. After this, take the completed step 1 to step 7 to the local VFS office
with the fee receipt from the bank and apply for the interview there.
-Some documents may not be necessary and VFS will decide which
those documents are but its a good idea to be prepared by having
all the documents listed in step 1-7.
-Make sure to have the paperwork in order with appropriate headings
or tabs in a binder of some sort.
    9. After applying, wait for the Interview Confirmation Letter that will look
    something like this: https://www.immihelp.com/usa-non-imm...ion-letter.pdf

you dont need to perform step 5 at all.

after you have the passports and other papers ready, you need to pay the fees, at the same time for each candidate but a seperate fee for each person.

Once you have the receipt then you dont have to go to the vfs office but can take the appointment online assuming you are in India then

You fill the forms DS-156 anf DS-157 online. (DS-157 will no appear for a person who is 56 and older so dont panic if that is the case).

VFs people will not really help you with paperwork and supporting docs you need to get them yourself. Be patient about getting the appointment, it migh need several tries before you get it. especially if taking a non-english appointment.

Download the folled applications and print them out for signature of inlwas.
