Thanks a lot immihelp for this great site. I would also like to thank all others who answer people's questions and keep this forum active.
My in-laws finally got their visa in their 3rd attempt. The pain/tension we all had to go through for this was too much. It is really sorry that the elderly people have to go through this exam just to spend some time with their kids.
They used a translator for their interview. But we had asked them to use some English words in between and look at both the Visa officer(VO) and the translator. My father-in-law cannot hear properly and so my mother-in-law told in the beginning itself that she is going to answer all the questions.
These questions were asked:-
1> How many kids do you have?
2 daughters in India and 1 son in US
2> Do you own the house where you live?
'Yes' and she told what other properties they have and wanted to show the CA letter for which the VO said that it was not required.
3> How long do you want to go to US?
5 months and we have to come back as my daughter's 10th marriage anniversary is there.
4> When did your son go to US?
She told the date.
5> What is your source of income?
She told whatever they get.
The VO turned towards my father-in-law and asked the question. Fortunately, this time all VOs were asking questions on mike and so my fil was able to hear it. (Last 2 times, when they went there was no mike.)
6> Where were you working before you were retired?
Told the company's name
7> How much were you earning when you retired?
Told the amount.
VO took the passport and said that they will be getting their passport by post. All the 3 times, none of the documents were seen. So it all depends on the luck.
