renewal visa for parents

Hello,
I have my parents here for 6 months and want to renew their visas for a few more.
I only have a few questions please:
- I want to do the I-539 filling online, it's already saved; Do I have to pay $300 or $600? It does say on your website that for a spouse I only pay once and nothing for supplements. Is that right? I called the 1-800-375-5283 and they say I have to pay $600 and do two applications;
- Do I have to mail the documents (tickets, I94 copies, passport copies, etc) even if I do it online? Do I get more credibility if I do it online and also mail all the documents? Or I do it online and then wait?
- Filling online, on the suplement form for my mom, I got the field: "Date started with group"? What exactly does it mean that?

1. You have to pay fees only once. You can do them together in one application.
2. Even if you do online, you have to still send the documents by mail. You can do everything by mail as well.
3. Not sure.

That's what I did:
1. Paid only $300
2. Did electronically and mailed the docs after
3. Put the time when my mom met my father... aproxx 40 years ago
4. Still waiting...
