Mom got visa in the third attempt by God's grace
Hi all,
First of all thanks to this forum and all the wonderful people taking part in it. My mother appeared for a B-2 visa interview in Chennai yesterday and she got her visa in the third attempt, by God's grace. She was denied in the earlier attempts because she was a widow, both her children were in US, she wasn't working and stating that she had no ties to get back to India.
This time, we took a lot of effort in preparing all possible documents mentioned in this website; got a letter from Congressman supporting my mother's application; showed evidence that she will come back to India and so on. But, the VO didn't look at any document and just asked a few questions. This time, I had given my other 15 days of rigorous practice as to how to answer questions. So, she did it with great confidence.
Some of the questions that were asked in her interview were:
-When did your husband die?
-How do you meet your expenses?
-How many children?
-What is your daughter doing? What visa?
-What is your son doing? My visa? My job?
[Then the VO and the translator left the counter for 15 minutes to attend some b'day bash during which my mom got so tensed]
-After coming back, he asked, Both your children are in US. Will you return to India? Why?
My mom told that she had old parents to take care of and that I am planning to return in December'08 and she had to make my wedding arrangements.
That's it. The translator said, you have got visa
I am grateful to all those who helped in this forum answering all my questions very often within an hour. I will be ready to help anyone who wants any info about similar kind of situations.
