  • Visitors Visa for Parents

    Hello all,

I want to try for my parents visitir visa again. However, I am very nervous about the whole process and about them getting rejected again, the scenario is -
    1. Both my father and mother had applied once in 2003 and had been rejected.
    2. Then only my mother applied in 2004 and was rejected.
    3. At that time me and my husband were on H1 but now we have GC.
    4. My father is retired, has pension, a house, but unfortunately I do not have any siblings (I had a younger sister who passed away in a tragic accident in 1987) and I am aware that this is the weakest point on their side. They have enough property to show that they will go back but no relational ties, apart from close relatives, but am not sure if that is strong enough.
    5. I have a daughter now and we haven't visited India in past 3 years and so I want my parents to come here at least for 2 months so that they can be with their grand daughter.

I am not sure what their chances are for getting a visa this time. Any special suggestions, hints are really welcome

    Thanks in advance
    Regards

Could you please post what was asked during the last two interviews and what were the answers?

As far as I remember they were very general questions like 1. How many children do you have? (Ans. 1 daughter) 2. How long do you want to stay (3-4 months). 3. What do you do (my father: retired now, but earlier worked as a civil engineer in military, mother housewife).

My father had taken all the house and pension papers with him but was rejected on the grounds that he might be possible job candidate in US and that there was no convincing reason that they would come back.

I feel that it was not fair, they did not even question them about property, neither saw their papers. And my father is 67 now, they have their own house, have enough pension, their whole life spent happily in INdia, they DO NOT have any intentions of coming and settling here, its me who wants them to stay at least for 2-3 months with us, enjoy with their grand daughter and see some places around. I don't know how this can be conveyed to the counselar officer

Yes, it is not fair. This visitor visa system is not rational but that is how it works.
They look for two ties to India--occupational and family. If you do not have both you are likely to be denied.

Your mother can apply alone again but she must show some occupational ties to India for both of them; like responsible membership in some organization,
some vocation like vocational school, running a small businesss, music school,
sewing school are a few examples. Have it registered, run it for several months or a year and then apply.
