  • help regarding the documents.

    I am inviting my parents to US this summer, I wanted to know whether a property statement made by a lawyer is acceptable, and i wanted to know whether an income of around Rs 20,000/month is safe for getting a visa or it should be more than that. Do they need to make a statement for monthly income as well or they can mention it verbally at the time of interview and show their pension passbooks as evidence, if a monthly income statement is needed, can a lawyer make that of course with proper attestation and stamps.
    Kindly anyone help me out here, thanks.

    No need for any lawyer statements, as none will be seen. Just take originals for income and assets proof just in case they are asked for . For pleasure visits,mostly No docs are seen.
    They ask a few standard qs and decide on their answers;

    Who is in US? On what visas? earning how much?
    Why do you wish to go? For how long?
    Who will spend for the trip?
    What do you do and what is your income in India?
    Any children living with you in India?

    For retired parents with small pensions, you will have to send an affidavit of support I-134 and supporting documents. Because Rs 20,000 is not enough to show self financing the trip. And it is also not enough as a strong income tie to India. So I suggest , it will be better if mother applies alone, which will increase her chances. If that is not possible, they will have to show some
    occupatinal( Retired won't do)or family ties ( single kids) in India.

      Actually my parents own a house but they dont have the proper original documents made yet, so if they make a notarised affidavit for the same will that do, kindly reply thanks

        Like I said, they hardly ever look at property papers and even if they do,
        an original deed will be required, not an affidavit.
