  • questions about visit visa for my mother

    Hello,
Iam on H1B visa and Iam planning to invite my mother for a visit here this summer. Iam sending the sponsor documents like I134, bank statements, invitation letters etc etc...my mother is a widower ,she never worked anywhere and she stays with my brother in india, i also have 2 sisters who are married and they are also in india..iam the only one from my family in US staying with my wife...there is not much property on mother's name, just a house and there is not much bank balance in her account..will there be any problems at the consulate when she goes for her visit visa? I have read in other threads that they are asking lot of documentation these days, could anyone please tell me what kind of documentation she has to take to consulate along with documents I sent? sponsor documents I sent would be good enough? Please advise.I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the help in advance.

Yes, there will be problems. Visas for widows are VERY RARE. As they usually can not show strong ties to the home country and your case is not the exception.

i wld give a trial...also if she has her mom in law staying with her it shows more ties to back home.

Hey, this is very encouraging to read, since my MIL is in a similar situation to your mom. Can you tell us a little more about her interview?

One extra thing we are going to try is to get my congressman (I'm an American citizen) to send a letter of support for my MIL's visa application. The congressman's office said they would fax it to the embassy the week before her interview and also send her a copy. We'll see if it works!

There is a wrong consuption if one is a widow, B2 visa will not be granted. If any one proves that her root is in her home country and will come back after the visit, there is no problem in getting visitor visa. One should prepare well to face the VO. That is all.
