  • Father's Occupation..Please help

I really appreciate you guys helping us on my previous question.
We have finally got the date and now in process of completing application form.
In one of the columns of DS156 form, the question is, write your present employer and next question is what's your current occupation.. ( in the brackets, it's written that write retired if retired or student if a student)
    Now, here's our dilemma..
My father retired as govt officer in the year 2002..but, since last 3 -4 years, he is pretty active as senior consultant with govt of India. He visits parts of India to inspect roads and bridges etc and give his recommendations.. Apart from it, he also works as arbitrator with some state govts..
So, all in all, he is quite busy with all this work and is busy most of the time in a year. But, he is not doing a full time 9 to 5 job per se as you can see..at the same time, we dont want this to look like a part time job since it's much more than a part time/evening job..
In the present employer, he will write name of the employer ( govt agency), but we are getting bit confused on what to write in " occupation" column..
First, does that column mean that you can only write retired or student or none or you can write name of occupation too??
Also, is it ok if we write his occupation as senior consultant or any other appropriate term rather than writing retired??
I mean only if visa officer asks, he should explain his nature of job..
I personally dont think that he should write retired as he is working..but not sure that occupation only means full time 9 to 5 job..
Iam sure that last time parents visa got rejected as he was fully retired that time and both children were outside India..Now, he can show some ties in terms of his work commitments..also, they had travelled to canada after their last rejection and gone back..

Do not write retired and do not even say retired when asked by the officer.
It will kill his any chance at the visa.
Write senior consultant to the govt of India and must show documents to prove it. ( THey will compare with his last interview where he mentioned retired).

I agree with peace. Is he getting compensated for his services? then he must disclose it and show evidence.
