New to US

Hi ,

I have come to US only 3 weeks bak. I have my H1B validity till jun
2010. I am planning to bring my parents to US and they will be staying with me for 3-6 months. My father is retired from GOVT services, he is 64 and is currently working as professor in a private college. My mom is a home maker.
My doubt is if iam bringing my parents here in another 3 months i will not be in a poistion to show 10000$ (min) in my bank account. But my parents are in a very good position to show the sufficient amount from their end. (like they sponsoring themselves but me sending an invitation letter)...Let me know if this is fine for getting the VISA.

This is more than fine. It is a great situation (if they can show income and property) and sponsor themselves.

If your father is working at a college, how can he explain a 3-6 month vacation?

Also, you have not been in US very long. If you have children, it will look like they are planning to come for babysitting not for tourism.

My father can get a letter from the college that he will be on temp leave for so and so period (6 months). Also i am single ...

probably he can also say that he need a break and he is coming to US to stay with me for some time and meet my relatives. i do have some relatives (around 5-10 families) in the states.

Also i have my brother in INDIA who is 35,married and has a daughter ( 3yrs old)... Hope this might also be one +ve point..

I strongly advise you to wait. You have just arrived here and getting your parents here so soon is a sign of desperation. plus your dad coming here for 3 + plus months when he is showing himself employed full time are all indicators that the officers are looking for to deny.

Wait for at least a year.

Iam not sure of how long iam going to stay here. Moreover at this point of time iam planning to stay in US for 6- 9 months only since i have other personal commitments.In such a case i want to bring my parents when they are in a physically active state which i thought this is the correct period.
Please advise me on any other options..Moreover iam planning to bring them in another 3 months from now which makes my stay in US as 4 months at that point of time.

You are planning to have them stay with you nearly the entire time you plan to be in US? Why bother having them come at all. You don't have time for tourism on a job of such short duration.

The reason for the visitors visa is to visit. If they are coming to visit the other relatives, have those relatives issue the invitation.
