Ornaments during trvelling....

Hi My mother is trvelling on april 1st by North west airlines ...she will be wearing some gold ornaments like ( mangalya , gold bangles ).. is it necessary for her to declare these items ? if so how this has to be done ?

If these are for her personal use, with no intention of selling for a profit in the US then she need not declare those items. She can wear them or keep in carry-in luggage.

Don't declare ...

... and don't put in checked-in baggage. You need to carry these with you.

PS: Unless really required, they're better off keeping the valuable ornaments in home country in a safe deposit vault.

Thanks Guys for ur reply... I will ask her not to declare gold items ,even i think its safe to wear than keep in carry in luggage ...
