New Passport while under admin processing/name check

hi,

my son's us visa interview was successful but it was kept pending for admininstrative process/name check. now his case number appeared in the consulate web site in approved list. in the meantime my son has applied for a new passport with his surname added. (in his previous passport his surname was not mentioned). is it necessary to prepare new application form before submitting his passport for US visa stamping or not.?. whats the right procedure? his previous passport has been cancelled and attached to the new passport. please advise

I don't think you have to apply for new visa all over again.

Just submit both passports so that US Consulate can stamp the passport on the new one. No need for new visa processing. Visa will be issued as per the name in the passport.
