In the list of documents that the sponsors should send, there is an item 'Original Birth Certificate'. I do not have one. Is it mandatory to get one or would any other suitable document (like marks sheet) help?

For a visitor's visa, I think it's okay if you don't send a Birth Certificate. I did not send it. But, if you have it, then might as well send it.

it is not mandatory. Sometimes they ask for it to make sure applicants are actually the parents of the sponsor. You could send your school leaving certificate showing your dad's name on it.
