Need advice planning to visit canada from US when on Visit

Hi All

Last year i was issued a 10 Yr Multiple entry, B1/B2 visa to the US. After getting the visa stamped, i had made a trip to US on business (B1) and had returned to India after spending two weeks out there, and all this happened more that a year ago.

Next month i am planning a trip to US for pleasure (B2), and also to meet and attend my sisters house warming. As i would be in the US for 3 weeks, my sister suggested me to apply for the Canadian visa also so that i could see niagra fall from the canadian side. We are also planning to spend a day or two in Canada. Now there are a few questions for which i need a few advice/answers from the senior members.

1) If i enter canada and return back to US after spending a day or two in canada, will my re-entry to the US be condisered as a fresh new entry ??

2) Will i have to fill u a new I-94 form and will i be given a new date for leaving US ?

3) Will it show in the records that i have been visiting US frequenty for visit ?

I have booked my return flight from Chicago, so i have no other options but to re-enter US and depart from there to INDIA.

What would be the best thing to do and how ??

Thanks Praetorian, so all i need is a Canadian visa and i should't be facing any issues in re-entering US after my stay in Canada for a day or two !!

You may visit Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean islands (not Cuba)for up to 30 days and re-enter the U.S. as long as you re-enter within the period noted on the original I - 94.

No new I-94 will be issued.

Canada may or may not issue a visitor visa to a US visitor. No harm in trying.

You have a better chance of getting the visa if you can show proof you are visiting Buffalo or Niagara or any area close to Canadian border for visiting any Canadian landmarks or relatives in Canada if any.

Where to apply for Canadian visitor visa?

My father is visiting us in US on B2 visa. We are planning to visit Canada this summer. I know he needs visitor visa for Canada. The question is that can he get that visa on border (POE)? Or should he get visa from NY or Buffalo Canadian consulate?

You cannot get the visa stamped from the border. He needs to get the visa from NY or Buffalo counsulate or better ask him to get it done from India itself before he flyies out to US
