I guess try applying through the VFS website. All the instuctions are given in this website or try to contact the local VFS service center in your area. They also serve as facilitators for helping people in submitting application and documents.

filling the online VFS form for appointment: help

thanx for ur reply, but i am still confused about the whole thing, because not everyone in india has access to computer......how do they get an appointment?
we r trying to follow the instructions online but after filling the application it aont let us "continue".........just keeps on saying something like, "fill in the numbers only"
checked the application for errors can't find any at this point ........this is so frustrating........my graduation date is coming up and my father doesnt even have the appointment at this time

VFS office is your last hope

In your case it is best for your folks to go to the nearest VFS office and take the help of the staff there. If this is not feasible, another alternative is to go to some good travel agent in the area who is familiar with US visas.

US Consulate has moved to evisa app couple of years ago. VFS has some wierd checks on the form. Some of them I noticed and remember are

You are not allowed to use # or comma in the address, They have specific date format and phone number format and year format. If the numbers are not in the format, it will give some error that only the person that wrote the checks can figure out.

You have to patiently sit and fill out the form trying some other format if there is an error and be attentive.

Otherwise, like someone suggested, a travel agent can fill out the form for couple of hundred bucks.

I don't get it. Why can't you take the appointment and fill in the forms rather than them going all the way? I have filled out the forms for my parents and sent the pdf copy for printing and signing. You just need some details from their passport.

Is that the problem? Happens to many people and you are not the only one that VFS people are targeting. It means what is says. They open the appointment slots once for 15 days or a month. You need to keep checking every day and once the dates becomes available, you can book. You just have to be patient.

Did you read what qualifies for an emergency appointment? The consulate can choose not to go with the interview if there is no true emergency as per the rules.

Please don't type in all caps.

Yes, I read it and Yes my Graduation Ceremony does qualify for Emergency Appt. My father decided to pay a travel agent to get an appt. because he was getting tired of going back and forth with VFS ppl, I think it will still take a couple of weeks to get an appt even with the travel agent at this point.
All i can do is pray that my father will be able to attend the ceremony.
thankx for your responses. i'll let u guys know what happens, and sorry abt the caps i was just frustrated but now i am just leaving it up to GOD

Don't exaggerate; graduation is not an emergency. Many people do not get to attend their own graduations due to work committments. You would normally know more than 4 months in advance if you were going to graduate and should have planned accordingly.

But it seems like it does qualidy only for the Delhi and Kokata consulates. Other people in other areas need to know that they graduate atleast 4 months in advance. Go figure why! Personally, I was surprised to read that.
